HAWA’s mission is deeply rooted in advocacy and support for our Southeast Asian families. As a resource to Milwaukee’s growing SEA community, we are always looking for folks who want to get involved in creating change and shifting cultural norms that prevent our communities from moving forward.
That is why we are always looking for community members to get involved through our efforts in supporting our families. Whether you are looking for a new career, interested in volunteering or becoming an intern, or joining youth programs or support groups, getting involved with the HAWA not only supports our organization but other SEA families who need our services.
The HAWA family is excited to be expanding our team! We believe that it’s important for us all to arrive to a place where we all want to build a better world through healing & being creative together with Southeast Asian Women, Girls, and LGBTQ+ communities. If this sounds like you, consider joining our team!
Do you have a passion for the Hmong community? If so, join our team at HAWA! We are passionate in educating and advocating for the Hmong community. Lead discussions with the teens, provide & facilitate activities for children, do outreach during community events, and more! Join us and make a positive impact today!

“Volunteering for HAWA was actually a great experience for me. I got to help out at the HAWA booth during the hmong new year. It required me to use my social skills, which has helped me a lot. I have become more outgoing and talkative from that experience.”

“One major accomplishment as an intern was working in youth programming. Through this, I was able to lead the Nkauj Hmoob girls in discussions about self-image, sexual assault/violence, and healthy living. Through facilitation, I was able to refine leadership skills, challenge myself in taking initiative, and to not be afraid to voice opinions and questions. It was a humbling experience getting to know and grow closer with the Nkauj Hmoob girls.”
